A Complete List of Reviews: Monthly Book Club Reads in 2022 and 2023

Hey fellow bookworms! 📚 Like many of you, I love to get lost in a good book and I’m always on the lookout for my next great read.

Back in 2022, my college girlfriends and I decided to kickstart a book club. It was a great way for us to bond, but we also saw it as a chance to broaden our reading horizons. So each month one of us selects the book and it allows all of us to dive into books that we might not have picked up otherwise.

Below I’ve compiled a list of all of the books that we’ve tackled together, along with our diverse range of opinions.  Fair warning, the opinions vary among the group!  But that’s what makes the book club so special ❤️!

A couple of us from Book Club, myself included, had already read this book years ago. But we loved it so so much that we wanted the others to experience its emotional, gripping narrative.

Set against the backdrop of France during World War II, the story follows two sisters navigating the harrowing challenges of survival throughout a war. It paints vivid pictures of the sweeping drama of WWII while also shedding light on the experiences of women during wartime. “The Nightingale” intricately weaves the tales of these two sisters, divergent in their paths yet united in their pursuit of survival, love, and freedom amidst the chaos of German-occupied France. This heartrending yet beautiful novel stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, particularly that of women. It’s a story that resonates with readers of all backgrounds, destined to leave a lasting impact.

This book served as pure entertainment, and I found myself thoroughly enjoying every bit of it! Despite the writing style feeling reminiscent of articles from magazines like US Weekly or People, delving into Britney’s perspective evoked a profound sense of empathy within me.

Through her narrative, the book illuminates her journey into the music industry, showcasing the challenges she faced on her path to achieving her childhood dream. However, once she got there, it seemed that everyone around her wanted a piece of the fame, whether it benefitted her or not.  This book left me feeling very grateful for my ordinary life.

This is the third and final book of the Knockamount series, also my favorite of the trilogy!  It’s a roller coaster of emotions and we finally get closure on one of our favorite couples, Sloan and Lucien.

The book has a corny sense of humor, with a bit of playfulness injected.  Not only is the chemistry  intense between Sloan and Lucine, the sexual tension between them builds as we continue to get pieces of their childhood background history.  The entire book had me cheering for this couple and enjoying the unraveling of time between them.
