Spring break is the perfect time for a family getaway, and what better way to combine adventure, relaxation, and Disney magic than with a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas? Now that the boys are getting older (and easier to travel with), my husband and I decided we’re at a great stage in life to start exploring more—and a Disney cruise felt like the perfect introduction to traveling abroad as a family.

I wanted a trip that we would all enjoy, so I chose Disney Cruiseline for its perfect balance of kid-friendly fun and relaxing beach days for mom and dad. And did I mention that once you’re on the ship, mom doesn’t have to worry about a thing?! From breakfast and coffee delivered to our stateroom every morning to nightly turndown service, Disney makes everything effortless. I truly felt like a queen, able to soak up the experience without having to make a single decision. Join us as we share the highlights of our unforgettable Disney spring break cruise, including our time on Castaway Cay, the best onboard experiences, and tips for making the most of your magical voyage!

THE KIDS CLUB

One of the main reasons we went with Disney is for the Kids Club.  We have never been to Disney Amusement Parks, so I felt that this was a good way for the boys to get a taste of Disney without all of the chaos of the people and lines.   While they had a blast checking out the Kids Club when we first arrived on the ship, they didn’t love going there.  We took them there for an hour or so daily before dinner and then grabbed them when we were ready to eat.  They had fun once they were there, but they are both shy by nature so I think the biggest hassle was getting them there.  Once they were there, they did have fun.

Itinerary (out of Miami)

Day 1: At Sea

The weather did not work in our favor.  It was cold and windy so did the scavenger hunt, saw a show (Beauty and the Beast) and took the boys to the kids club so we could spend some in the adult section of the ship.

Day 2: At Sea (We weren't able to port at Castaway Cay due to high winds)

Since we weren’t able to port, Disney opened up more activities on the boat.  One of the things that my husband and I had wanted to do was the martini tasting, but it filled up before we could sign up.  Since they added this for the extra at sea day, we were able to do this and send the kids to the Kids club.  I highly recommend this experience.  It was a great way to meet people and the drink were fabulous!

Day 3 Nassau, Bahamas

Nassau was disappointing.  It rained the entire time we were there so excursions were off the table.  We went to the Atlantis just to get off the ship, but we couldn’t get past the front lobby without paying a fee.   So we walked around a bit and headed right back to the ship.

Day 4 Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay is Disney’s private island in the Bahamas and it was absolutely beautiful!  Once we exited the ship, we were greeted by various Disney characters.  The boys particularly enjoyed Jack Sparrow!

That evening we took the boys to the Kids Club so Mom and Dad could enjoy drinks on the adult deck.

I didn’t realize this, but usually midway through, every Disney cruise has a pirate themed night.  It includes a show, fireworks and a big dance party out on the deck.  Everyone gets on all of their pirate gear and has a good time!

Day 5 At Sea

The weather was perfect for this at sea day!  We spent some time in the sun, watched a show and took the boys to the kids club in the afternoon.
